The Engineer Who Could!

Sorry for the delay in posting. Getting the Little Big Quilts Club going has been an adventure. We are getting shops signed up and will be showing all the samples at Fall Quilt Market in Houston in about 3 weeks! Check with your local shop to see if they are participating. After we have all the sign ups we will have a shop list on the website probably in November after market.
We attended a family wedding in Nebraska and had to go to Lincoln to eat Valentino's on our way home. My husband went to college at UNL and we have very fond memories of living there. Go Huskers! We have actually lived there 3 times since we got married. As luck would have it Valentino's is right down the street from The International Quilt Study Center & Museum.
I was very excited because the exhibit they have until March 2014 is called "The Engineer Who Could" It is a display of work done by Ernest Haight and traces the innovative processes he developed designing and making quilts starting in 1934. You can read much more at www.quiltstudy.org
about the exhibit.

The irony is that my husband (the engineer) took early retirement this year at 58 years old. I have been telling him I would love to see him try his hand at designing a quilt. Seeing the work at the Museum was very inspirational for both of us. He has yet to try it but I will certainly keep you updated if he does give it a try.
