But the yarn called to me!

As I was looking for Rick Rack in HL yesterday I wandered too far and found this oh so soft cotton yarn that was calling my name. Now mind you I haven't picked up a crochet hook for over 20? years. I know I have hooks somewhere around here but it was easier to buy a new one. SO I started by winding it in a ball and it really is very soft. I guess some things you never forget. This is the beginning of a washcloth done in double crochet. I haven't taken it out of the studio yet because I know when my husband sees another project his eyes may just roll back in his head. Oh well I will just have to take that chance!

Enjoy the Journey

I find as I follow this creative journey that I am on I want to slow everything down.
Enjoying the journey and process has become almost more important
than the completion. My pledge is to do more hand work and be more mindful
of the direction my creative pursuits want to take me.

Civil War Reproductions

The Fedex guy left me a package the other day and it was the color card for my new fabric line called Neutral Territory. The sales reps for RJR Fabrics are on the road showing it to the quilt shops as we speak. It will ship in December-I hope to have sample yardage next week to get busy sewing up models for new patterns. The line features Civil War era reproduction fabrics circa 1860-1880. I love the neutral tones using blacks-greys-tans and creams. My favorite is the large floral print on the left.  The inspiration for the colorway came from stories of the blacksmiths that traveled with the armies, both North and South, using a traveling forge to carry the tools needed to repair horse shoes, wagons and artillery.

A New Design Adventure

This is what I have been up to lately. I have wanted to start designing some Needlework projects and this is my first official design. It is still a work in progress. I will be a new vendor at Needlework Galleria in St Charles, MO in September. Will keep you posted.
